3 Eye Makeup Looks for Spring

April 7th, 2010

ABC

Rock these looks for the eyes this season. Lively, stylish bright colors to celebrate spring. We’ve heard it a thousand times, “The eyes are the windows to the soul”. Now wouldn’t you want yours to mesmerize and captivate? With these palettes, get ready for loads of compliments coming your way.
A: Vivid is the word. This eye palette features bold, daring colors that are not for the faint-hearted or timid. BUT definitely perfect for someone who craves attention or the spotlight. Wear it during lunchdates or when hitting the mall with your girlfriends. Lancome Color Design Eyeshadow - 406 Indian Rose
First apply a primer or an eyeshadow base as it will create the perfect base for the eye makeup. Take Lancome Color Design Eyeshadow in Indian Rose and using a flat brush, apply to the eyelid at the crease, extending to the outer corner. Dab lightly as you go farther out to create the illusion of fading. Add shimmer under the brows and tearduct area. Use a blending brush to blend these two colors seamlessly. Now to tackle the undereye portion, use an angle brush to apply Versace Eyeshadow Duo No. 28, carefully tracing the line, the outside having the stronger color and adding shimmer where the inner corners of the eye meet. Apply a dark mascara to finish this eye makeup look.
Versace Eyeshadow Duo - No. 28
B: This look is more mellow than the first one. You might argue that this palette is for winter season, but these colors also remind us of clear, blue skies and cornflowers. The combination of silver and blue eyeshadows are perfectly fresh, cool and youthful. Wear it to the office, Sunday brunch or garden party. This palette will make you look so unforgettably pretty that you will never again underestimate the power of subtlety. Yves Saint Laurent Ombre Vibration Duo - Steel Blue/Silver Mist
The steps in achieving this eye makeup look are very easy. Just repeat the steps mentioned above up until applying the eyeshadow. Then, using a flat brush or an eyeliner brush like Stila’s One Step Eyeliner Brush in size 13S, dab Yves Saint Laurent Ombre Vibration Duo – #27 Steel Blue/Silver Mist on the lashline, using the Steel Blue pigment and with a definer brush, spread color the color out until you have achieved the look that you want. Apply the Silver Mist shade right below the brow and inner corner of the eye to add interest. To finish up, apply an eyeliner (we suggest a long wearing eyeliner to last the whole day like Sisley Phyto Khol Perfect Eyeliner with Blender and Sharpener in Black)  and a dark mascara. Stila One Step Eyeliner Brush - # 13S (Short Handle)
C: If you want just the right amount of mystery and charm, this is the look you should go for. The effect is Audrey Hepburn meets Gwen Stefani. Perfect for a hot night out with the girls or dining out with a special someone. Sisley Phyto Ombre Eclat Eyeshadow - Anis
This eye makeup look is the spring variation of the smokey eyes. The first step is to apply a primer or an eyeshadow base to help your makeup last all day and stay in place. Beginning at the outer corners of the eye, dab Sisley’s Phyto Ombre Eclat Eyeshadow in Graphite, make the color on the outside portion stronger to make the eyes appear bigger and wider, cat-like. After darkening the crease, take Sisley Phyto Ombre Eclat Eyeshadow in Anis and apply on the inner portion of the eye. Use a brush to blend where the two eyeshadow colors meet. After blending, press Sisley’s Phyto Ombre Eclat Eyeshadow in Graphite to the lashline with an angle brush to accentuate the smokey effect. Line the eyes with Helena Rubinstein’s Silky Eye Crayon Eye Liner in Silky Black. Make eyelashes look fuller and longer by applying mascara on top and bottom lashes. You might also want to put on false eyelashes for a more dramatic look. Sisley Phyto Ombre Eclat Eyeshadow - # 08 Graphite

Turn Up Your Smile Wattage

January 8th, 2010

A smile can say a lot – it can convey your personality and self-confidence. And it makes you look younger, more captivating. People are drawn to those with a contagious, attractive smile. And we think that to have a sexy smile, you have to have a set of healthy, white teeth. If you are looking to brighten up your smile without the cost (and hassle) of dental work,  we suggest wearing a dark shade of lipstick with cool undertones. The shade of the lipstick will accentuate your pearly whites, making it more dazzling and brilliant! Choose blue-based reds and pinks for the most extreme contrast. Avoid using orange-based shades as these will accentuate the yellowness of teeth as well as stains.

To dazzle people with your smile, we recommend these lipcolors:

Dior Addict Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Personnel
874 Abyss Red #08 Tender Parma

Lancome Rouge Sensation Givenchy Lip! Lip! Lipstick #Red Desire #215 Afternoon Ruby

Don’t forget to keep your lips moisturized and exfoliate every three days, especially in a cold climate. Follow these tips and your smile is bound to look more confident, charming – and we find that totally sexy.

Sun-kissed Glow (even in winter!)

November 25th, 2009

Are you already weary of winter even if it had just barely begun? Do you find yourself closing your eyes and wishing you were lounging in a tropical island, with the sun on your back and the salty beach air filling your lungs? If the cold days are getting you down (and pale), we have some tips to give you a summery appeal that could make you look scorching hot even in the coldest of days.

Use a bronzer to help you create a healthy, golden look. Apply it on your forehead, nose, cheeks and chin. Choose a shade that matches or a little darker than your real skin color. We recommend Paula Dorf Bronzing Powder. It’s best for oily or normal skin. Use a short, thick brush to apply. Do not apply excessively, try patting or blowing on the brush to  avoid going overboard with the color. Paula Dorf Bronzing Powder
For a fresh, dewy look, apply a pink blush to the apples of your cheeks. We adore Borghese Blush Milano, it creates a naturally healthy appeal that easily attracts attention. It is best  suitable to oily and combination skin types. Use a full brush and always sweep in one direction. 425932
For serious shine and sexy look, use a lip gloss. We love Givenchy Pop Gloss Crystal Lip Gloss for its high-shine shades that are sure to flatter you. The sheer gloss brushes on smoothly and may be worn alone or over other lip products. 426894

With this look, you’ll be sure to heighten the drama and turn up the heat this season.

The Proper Foundation For You

September 29th, 2009

Choosing the right foundation is critical when you want an impressive-looking makeup. It is the base that holds the key to achieving a finished and even appearance to the face. It can definitely make or break your entire look – it hides imperfections as well as blemishes. It also creates a veil for that spotless, silky facial skin tone. And because there are multitudes of foundations out there, you might have a hard time choosing what really works for your skin type. We are breaking down the basics so you are one step closer to having a smooth complexion guaranteed to amp up your look!

TYPES OF FOUNDATIONS:

Cream Foundation is suited for dry to extra dry skin as most are oil-based. It adds moisture into the skin and adds an extra barrier between the skin and the elements. It also provides greater long-lasting coverage than liquid foundation. Most cream foundations come in stick or compact. We are impressed with Sisley Botanical MakeUp With Cucumber, it’s a silky cream that provides great coverage. It comforts and cools the skin with its revitalizing and refreshing properties. We also adore Chanel Vitalumieries Cream Compact for its creamy, silky application. It is enriched with vitamins and blends seamlessly.

Liquid Foundation is perfect for combination or dry skin. It glides smoothly and sets a silky cream finish. Most liquid foundations do not cake or crease on your face. It feels weightlesss and comfortable. It provides more moisture than powder foundation. We recommend Dior Diorskin Sculpt Line Smoothing Lifting Makeup SPF 20 and Guerlain Issima Anti Ageing Silky Smooth Fluid Foundation SPF 15. They have innovative formulas to protect the skin from the sun’s harmful rays. They also provide anti-aging benefits to contour, smoothen and plump the skin.

Powder Foundation is recommended for oily or sensitive skin. It lets your skin breathe and leaves a matte finish – without the oily, shiny look. Now, you won’t need to walk around with thick mask of foundation all day. It is gentle and devilishly easy to blend. Nina Ricci’s Ricci White Lightening Compact Powder Foundation is a great find. Not only does it give a matte, radiant finish; it also lightens and brightens the complexion for an illuminated effect. Stay Matte Powder Oil Free by Clinique is another winner, for its lightweight texture and comfortable feel. You’ll forget you’re even wearing makeup! It creates a naturally flawless visage.

We encourage you to practice applying your foundation for that more consistent, even tone. Blend the edges well and choose the right shade for your skin color. Follow these tips and you’re on your way to blemish-free, perfect and radiant face.
